Štěpánka Balcarová

Štěpánka Balcarová is a Czech trumpeter, composer and arranger.

Originally a student of Pilsen trumpeter František Kučera, she completed two years of study at Ježkárná in Prague and then went to the music academy in Wroclaw and from there to Katowice. Shortly after her arrival in Poland, she decided to form a quintet with her peers: she recruited two Czechs and two Poles. She named that line-up Inner Spaces, won first and second place with it at the Polish festivals in Jelenia Góra and Krakow.

In 2023 she comes with a new album called Emotions (2023 ), whose theme is human emotions. On the album, Štěpánka portrays eight basic human emotions described by the American psychologist Robert Plutchik in eight new compositions: joy, trust, fear, surprise, sadness, disgust, anger, expectation. She released a concept album with this repertoire with her Czech-Polish quartet in 2023.
