David Dorůžka
David Dorůžka is a Czech jazz guitarist.
He has been working professionally on the Czech jazz scene since 1994 and, in addition to concerts around the world and a number of collaborations with world names, he also has long-term stays in the metropolises of New York and Paris. In past seasons, Dorůžka was busy with concert tours in Israel, France, Germany, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. In addition to performing with Iva Bittová, with the Swedish formation The Stoner and with his own trio, he has recently managed to participate in recordings with stars such as Chris Cheek, Daniele di Bonaventura, Aga Zaryan or Cyrille Oswald.
Dorůžková however, his main concert activity is his trio. The majority of the repertoire consists of original compositions, but there are also compositions taken from the pop area, jazz evergreens (Sonny Rollins, Kurt Weill) or adapted songs from the classical repertoire (Edvard Grieg). The trio's playing is dynamic and sensitive, it is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition, but at the same time it is not afraid of experiments and transitions to other genres of the contemporary music world.
