Iris Kaltenbäck was born in Paris in 1988 and grew up with a French mother, an Austrian father and an American half-brother. After studying criminal law, she began a career in the film business and enrolled at the La Fémis film school. Le Ravissement is her first feature film. Using the portrait of a woman looking for love, the film sensitively traces the slow change of a young midwife, aptly portrayed by Hafsia Herzi, who becomes entangled in lies after her friend gives birth. The director sensitively examines the vulnerabilities of a character destined to accompany others at birth but unable to give meaning to her own life.
Le Ravissement was previewed at the Festival du film francophone 2023 in the presence of the director. To date it is not yet available for rental in Austria. With this screening we would like to honor the film of a young French-Austrian director with a unique career.
The discussion will be moderated by the curators Cordula Rieger and Anouk El-Schahawi.

Née en 1988, in Paris, Iris Kaltenbäck a grandi auprès d'une mère française, d'un père austrichien et d'un demi-frère américain. After the études de droit pénal, elle se lance dans le cinéma et intègre la Fémis. Le Ravissement is son premier long-métrage. À travers the portrait of a woman en quête d'amour, the film retrace with a grand finesse of the lent basculement of a young sage-femme, incarnée with justesse by Hafsia Herzi, qui s'enferme dans the mensonge à la suite de l'accouchement de son amie. The réalisatrice explores with delicate les zones de fragilité d'un personnage voué à accompagner la naissance des other, mais incapable de thunder sens à sa propre existence.
Le Ravissement a été présenté en avant-première dans le cadre du Festival du film francophone 2023, in presence of the realisation. It's not today distributed in Austria. Have this séance, notre souhait est de mettre à l'honneur le film d'une réalisatrice franco-autrichienne au parcours singulier.
