About event
We cordially invite you to the lecture and presentation of the book "Glass Miracles" created together by Robert Jelinek and Ismini Adami - natural glass experts. In their book, they gathered everything that can be ascertained about this fascinating material - what species there are where they can be found and how they arise. This publication will be presented in detail at the lecture. Milan Prchal, who has been involved in the collection of moldavites for more than 60 years, will perform during the presentation of the book. During that time, he has found over 25,000 pieces and will share his rich experience and terrain stories. Václav Bozděch offers a look into his personal collection of tectites, impact and volcanic glasses - unique samples that have not yet been widely available to the public. "Glass Miracles - Volcanic and Impact Guide" (authors Robert Jelinek & ismini Adami) is a perfect encyclopedic guide for every collector and a lover of natural glass. This book will take you on a fascinating journey to the most remote corners of our planet and beyond its borders. Indeed, volcanic and impact glass does not only occur on Earth, as planetary research shows us, but can also be found on other planets of our solar system. From Antarctica to Vietnam, from Jupiter to Mars! The book describes in detail more than 315 specimens from 392 locations in 96 countries and three planets, including detailed information about their occurrence, history and geology - all presented with full -page photographs. In addition to well -known tectites, such as Vltavín and Indocent, other rare types of impact and volcanic glass are presented in the book, which are unknown outside the geological community. The textual contributions were provided by renowned experts: Christian Koeberl (researcher Impakt and former CEO of the Natural History Museum in Vienna, Austria) and Aubrey Whymark (Tectites, Geologist and Geoser Wellsite, Manila, Philippines). The book "Glass Miracles" (218 pages; Original in English: Glassy Wonders) is published in Czech in a limited load of 700 pieces. Wenceslas Square 68, Prague 1
