About event
The sensational Mexican songwriter will perform for the first time in the Czech Republic at the Prague Sounds Festival
Only 28 -year -old Mexican singer, multi -instrumentalist and composer Silvan Estrad has been experiencing a rocket ascent since her debut album Marchita (2022). Austere and elegant arrangements and sophisticated songwriting complemented by an extremely urgent voice full of emotions and silent beauty brought her worldwide recognition: she won the Latin Grammy Award for the discovery of the year, collected tens of millions of playing, set out on a large international tour and also performed in the famous Walt Disney Concert Hall Philharmonic.

In adolescence, she first reached for the Venezuelan Cuatro guitar, which was made by her father and became her distinguishing sign. Estrada does not need more than voice and guitar for its spells on stage, but he has already made a number of significant cooperations - for example, with American jazz guitarist Charlie Hunter, Devendra Banhart or Snarky Puppy. She has always fascinated her jazz, and in her voice we can also hear the influences of her heroines Billie Holiday and Elly Fitzgerald or singers of traditional Latin American music Chavely Vargas or Mercedes Sosy. Her unique talent to connect North American and Latin American music elements resonates with listeners across the music spectrum. However, it is not a mere musical fusion - estradins of inspiration are always subordinate to her artistic vision and tone of her deeply emotional songs. The songs on the Marchita album deal with the lost love and work authentic because of their own experience. It will offer various forms of her work - from intimate solo songs to arrangements for the chamber orchestra, as well as a special part dedicated to the Mexican day of the dead, in which he pays tribute to some of the most revered singers of his country. - NME
