Traditionally, after a tour of the central cemetery, we go to Concordia Schlössel opposite for lunch.

# History Concordia Schlössl

#### Concordia Palace in Simmering – the “Little Opera Vienna”

Opposite the first gate of the Vienna Central Cemetery, on Simmeringer Hauptstraße 283, is one of the most romantic places in the federal capital: Concordia Palace. The “Little Opera Vienna”, as the quaint Schlössl is also called, was originally used as the office of the k.u.k court stonemason company Sommer & Weniger, which specialized in the production of monumental stone figures.

This artistry was of course also reflected in the construction of the castle in 1881. Right at the entrance, a larger-than-life statue of Christ invites visitors to pause.
If you follow this invitation, you should take a close look at the huge clock above the entrance. Here time stands still in the truest sense of the word. More precisely, always on “5 to 12” - a metaphorical reference to the eventful history of people.
