Architect of the exhibition: Ján Studený
Stanislav / Stano Filko (1937 – 2015), a native of Veľká Hradná, belongs to the most important and internationally reflected personalities of Slovak visual arts. In his work, he constantly returned to the theme of home, space and transcendence.
The exhibition focuses on his work with painting and color in a retrospective view - from his student years to his late period. The exposure allows literal entry into the images - not only from the front, but also from the reverse. Here, painting is not understood as a surface, but as an object and a spatial experience.
The project brings an intense experience with color, image and space across periods - from modern to neo-avant-garde to the present. The exhibition also includes works that will be presented to the public for the very first time.
The works are kindly lent by The Estate of Stano Filko.
The exhibition partially overlaps with the retrospective STANO FILKO: 12 CHAKRAS OF BECOMING at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg (opening on April 2).
