About event
The French artist Éléa-Jeanne Schmitter is invited to present her work and in particular "Les Coussins", part of her project that deals with gender-based and sexual violence in the context of sporting events and which she is pursuing as part of her stay at the Salzamt in Linz. Based on her research and study of these phenomena, the artist uses the act of piercing to physically materialize the statistical increase in violence while exposing the inaccuracy, blind spots and fragility of this data.
Éléa-Jeanne Schmitter, born in Beauvais in 1993, currently works in France at the POUSH studio in Aubervilliers. After earning a BFA degree from Concordia University in Canada, she was accepted into the Kourtrajmé School's class of 12 under the direction of artist JR. Her work was shown at the Palais de Tokyo as part of the exhibition “Jusqu'ici tout va bien”. Her first solo exhibition took place at CENTQUATRE Paris. In 2025 her work was exhibited at the Palais de la Porte Dorée.
