The title of their second album “When You Come Back I Have So Much to Tell You” sounds like a promise – and at the same time like a warning. For Dream, Ivory, the Californian duo of brothers Christian and Louie Baello, it began as a quiet flicker of hope: two voices separated by space and experience that would find each other at the end of a dark tunnel. But the longer it took to work on the songs, the more clearly a different tone came to the foreground. What if no one comes back? What if the stories that need to be told aren’t comforting ones?

Growing up as the sons of Filipino immigrants, the brothers moved through half of Southern California, always accompanied by their parents' records - ABBA, Bee Gees, Beatles. The family's forced happiness at the piano became the creative basis for a distinctive sound that later merged shoegaze, surf rock and pop punk. While Christian layers productions like mental sediment, Louie sings with haunting clarity about what's bubbling beneath the surface: addiction, self-doubt, lost time.

Working on the new album fell into a phase of alienation. The parents moved back to the Philippines, Louie to Los Angeles, the brothers under one roof for the first time as adults - and completely creatively blocked. Instead of songs there was emptiness, escapades, crashes. Only Christian's withdrawal, the attempt to return to himself, opened a new window. “Lost Angeles”, later “At Zero”, mark the moment in which the duo found themselves and were suddenly able to ironically reflect their own melodramatics.

But it is only on stage that this introspection becomes a shared experience. At their sold-out 2025 shows in Paris, London and Los Angeles, Dream, Ivory transformed their introspective songs into shimmering, almost cathartic evenings. The audience seemed less a witness than fellow travelers of a story that ranged between longing and reconciliation. Live, the brothers seem as if they were overcoming the distance of the album title in real time - every line an attempt to reach an invisible counterpart. In the summer of 2026, Dream, Ivory will return to Germany for three concerts - supported by losers!, who will be on tour as support.
