About event
Rathmann
"The Golden Twenties"
11/27/2026
Privatclub Berlin
Admission: 7 p.m.
Start: 8 p.m.
Rathmann are Magnus Ernst (vocals), Moritz Weishaupt (bass) and Arne Wolff (drums). Great danceability and detailed arrangements are the two cornerstones of their music. Therefore, comparisons to Element of Crime or Udo Lindenberg are obvious, and Wanda or Faber are also quickly thrown into the mix.
What do you have in common with Rathmann? Sad and tragic lyrics that are nevertheless humorous and intelligent and a unique sound that cannot be found anywhere in the German indie scene. Rathmann clearly make German indie pop but without always citing the same 80s references. Instead, they are dry and direct, sometimes with acoustic guitar, sometimes with orchestral trombone use - but always with grooving and urgently demanding drums. Either way, the sound oscillates full of emotions between intimacy and great cinema.
