Die Alkestiade

Ancient Greece, long before its great heyday. People recognize their fate in myths and oracles, symbols and prophecies. The young princess Alkestis does not want to put up with the view of a predictable life as a wife and mother. But then the noble Admetos succeeds in passing an impossible examination and winning it as a wife in the competition. A god must have helped him. Is the marriage a higher will? On the day of the wedding, three lower shepherds appear. In one of them, the God converted Apollo into human form. But nobody can find out in which.

Along her archaic history of rebellion and victims, submission and revenge, the alkestiade asks young questions of a ringing, meaningful mankind.
