The 1877 in the former Austria-Hungary Born Ernst von Dohnányi was not only one of the most important pianists, teachers and composers of the first half of the 20th century and the “forefather” of the great Dohnányi dynasty, but also a close friend of Ludwig Bösendorfer, who even gave the virtuoso a grand piano for his piano works Concave keyboard designed to make piano playing ergonomically better. In contrast to that of his contemporaries Zoltán Kodály and Béla Bartók, Ernst von Dohnányi's musical language remained deeply rooted in the Brahmsian tradition in both his orchestral and piano and chamber music works and is characterized by an immense spectrum of colors.
The designated Dohnányi -Specialist Sofja Gülbadamova, together with her colleagues Thomas Christian, Robert Bauerstatter and Bernhard Naoki, who are congenially anchored in the Viennese string tradition, present Hedenborg Dohnányi's Piano Quartet in F sharp minor, a youth work, the famous piano quartet Á la hongarese opposite Dohnányi's spiritual composition father, Johannes Brahms, and at the beginning of the evening he introduces Dohnányi's rich and unfairly rarely performed work.
