**This time I am accompanying the 2nd group. The 1st group will be welcomed directly by Ilse & Georg.**

This is the 2nd group - the 1st group takes place at 10am.

In keeping with the season, this time we are devoting ourselves to the Jewish part of the Central Cemetery.
We were in the Jewish part many, many years ago - but not with Ilse & Georg.

**A magical place to linger and remember, Jewish funeral rites and grave design then/now, a visit to Rabbi Isaak Mannheimer, Gerhard Bronner and the author of “Aunt Jolesch or The Decline of the West in Anecdotes” and many others**.

The Central Cemetery is considered a place where **people of all denominations** can find a resting place. There is a part of the cemetery here that is considered to be the quietest, most natural and most beautiful: the Old Jewish Cemetery.

On this tour we will show you **various grave sites of well-known and lesser-known personalities**. We will explain **Jewish burial rites and Jewish grave design**, as well as retell the **life stories** of certain personalities.

Also the sad history of this part of the cemetery, which was given to the Jewish community of Vienna in 1877, but **expropriated during the Nazi era**, **partially destroyed** by aerial bombs of World War II and also more recently desecrated by **acts of vandalism** became, we will tell.

We will encounter many graves and their stories, the quiet melancholy of the Old Jewish Cemetery and perhaps one or two **deer** in this special place, which is looked after by the **Israelite Community**.
