Yonathan Avishai

Yonathan Avishai grew up not only in Israel, but also in Japan. And later settled in France. In this too, one can look for the roots of his originality and innovative musical procedures, freely drawing from various cultures. “His sound and style are radical. He takes breaks where you wouldn't expect them," they wrote about him with exaggeration. Yonathan established himself as a regular member of trumpeter Avishai Cohen's band, with whom he released five albums on the style-making ECM label. He also played with Omer Avital. At the same time, however, he is an experienced soloist and also a leader.
