Viktor Ori

Viktor Ori is a well-known name on the Slovak alternative music scene. For many years he was the singer and guitarist of the band Shallov, which released its last album Coexist, Refrain in March 2023 on Weltschmerzen.

However, the band Shallov went through a major musical transition in the course of 2023-2024, human and personal transformation, and due to the change of concept, genre and language, she decided for a new beginning. The main creative and production force is Viktor Ori, under whose name and authorship the new work is created and will be released. interesting collaborations. The album is created in collaboration with Jakub Hríbik and Jakub Spiszak from PULP studio. There will be 10 songs on it, it should be released on November 1. under the name It was better, it will never be better. It already represents the most serious project I've worked on so far," says Viktor Ori.

The first single from the album is the song We're in this together. This is the first song in Ori's work that does not contain guitars at all. Instead, we hear dissonant synthesizers, distinctive drums by Antonín Kropáček, piano performed by Kristína Smetanova, and all of this is further supported and enriched by strings and a rich musical arrangement, in which Jakub Hríbik and Jakub Spiszak from PULP studio took part. The cover of the single captures the theft of a cross from the church in Veľký Šariš, which happened in November 2023.

Viktor says about the song: "The song is about what it seems to be about - and therefore about revolutionary fantasies that many of us have and whose framework is narrowed down to the level of the individual in an individualistically interpreted world. But as we become the best and worst versions of ourselves, the fascists take over the revolution. Well, we kind of hope that they will also sort it out inside themselves over time. I don't have good news, they won't solve it. The composition in no way wants to encourage violence, on the contrary, it encourages civic passivity and, at most, self-harm. I dedicate it to all those who turn the tools of their resistance against the wrong enemy - against themselves."
