Tomáš Hobzek

Tomáš Hobzek is a Czech drummer and a founding member of the band Organic Quartet. He classifies his music under modern jazz and improvised music with elements of avant-garde jazz.

"I think that thematically, Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks and this generation of musicians in general. Processing by Wayne Shorter's quartet. In general, I like to apply simpler themes and use them for more extensive improvisation. I get inspired in different ways. Sometimes it's just some small musical motif from which I write a composition, but often I am significantly inspired by non-musical stimuli, such as some strong personal experience. Rather than looking for inspiration, I let it somehow come to me," says Tomáš Hobzek.
