The music band The Plastic People of the Universe was founded in 1968 and their work influenced in the beginning especially by the American Velvet Underground, Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa became one of the most original not only on the Czech rock scene. The group could not be forced to concessions and compromises by the regime at the time, which deprived them of a professional license and brought more and more complications with the authorities. Systematic persecution culminated in 1976 by imprisonment of several members. A group of opposition intellectuals, led by Václav Havel, organized a campaign to support them and release, which culminated in January 1977 with Charter 77. So Rock N´roll became an incentive to the democratic opposition of all directions that they were unparalleled in the communist countries of that time. Musicians are closer to Václav Havel, filming two of their semi -professional illegal recordings at his cottage at Hrádeček, one of them to the leader of the dissent and the future president selects texts. All the time, the band maintains a clear artistic vision and has been developing musically to an unmistakable expression that gains recognition around the world, where their recordings often come through adventure conspiracy paths.
