The Dixieland Messengers

The Dixieland Messengers was founded at the end of 1998 by trombonist Václav Fiala with the intention of continuing the concept of jazz and blues interpretation from the classic New Orleans period of the 1920s to 1940s with original elements of African-American folklore and while maintaining the usual instrumentation, i.e. trumpet, clarinet, trombone, piano, bass, banjo and drum kit.

It is probably the youngest Dixieland group in the Czech Republic, despite the fact that some of the musicians are among the oldest jazz musicians still active (on has been active in the Czech jazz scene since the late 1950s). In The Dixieland Messengers, they meet two generations of younger Dixieland musicians, and the meeting is mutually beneficial. This results in a lineup full of not only experience and confidence, but also energy and great enthusiasm.
