Rodrigo Y Gabriela
Rodrigo y Gabriela is a Mexican acoustic guitar duo formed by Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero. Both musicians come from Mexico City, where they started in the rock and metal scene. In the late 1990s, they moved to Ireland, where they began performing as an instrumental duo. Their work combines acoustic guitar with elements of flamenco, Latin American music, rock and metal. They gained international attention after the release of the self-titled album Rodrigo y Gabriela in 2006, which contained original compositions and instrumental arrangements of songs by Led Zeppelin and Metallica.
In the following years, they released the albums 11:11 (2009), Area 52 (2012), 9 Dead Alive (2014), Mettavolution (2019) and In Between Thoughts... A New World (2023). The Mettavolution album won a Grammy Award in the Best Contemporary Instrumental Album category. During their career, the duo has toured all over the world and performed at a number of international festivals and prestigious concert stages.
In 2026, Rodrigo y Gabriela will mark twenty years since the release of their breakthrough album Rodrigo y Gabriela with an anniversary reissue complete with an archival recording Re-Foc.
