Razorlight
British indie-rock legend Razorlight is one of the most prominent icons that shaped the guitar scene at the beginning of the new millennium. The group, led by charismatic frontman Johnny Borrell, gained worldwide recognition right away with their debut Up All Night, which faithfully captured the raw energy of the London clubs of the time. However, their definitive breakthrough was their second, eponymous album from 2006, which shot the band to the very top of the British charts and brought immortal generational anthems such as In The Morning, Before I Fall To Pieces or the cult single America.
Razorlight's work combines straightforward rock dynamics with melodic catchiness, which makes their live performances intense experience. In addition to mass hits, the band can revive the hidden gems of its discography and less played, atmospheric compositions such as Hold On, Who Needs Love or Kirby's House at concerts. Johnny Borrell recalls the period of creation of his greatest hits by saying that the entire album then naturally began to sound like a selection of the greatest hits, which is the best possible signal for a musician that things are working.
An important milestone in the band's history was the renewal of the creative partnership between Johnny Borrell and drummer and co-writer of the songs Andy Burrows. Their joint synergy has been stormy in the past, but extremely fruitful. After a period of separation, the original line-up found itself again, which injected new blood into the band's veins and returned to the stage their famous collective energy. Borrell compares this rediscovered musical bond to the creative intoxication that drove them to constantly write new songs in their prime and that still defines their performance on stage today.
With more than two decades on the scene, Razorlight has maintained a stable position and continues to appeal to a new generation of listeners, as evidenced by millions of plays on streaming platforms. Among their greatest successes are the first places in the charts, multi-platinum records and a number of singles in the prestigious British Top 20. They also confirmed their pan-European status with the platinum record Slipway Fires with the big hit Wire to Wire. Razorlight thus remain an essential pillar of British indie rock, whose music does not lose its urgency even after years.
