Peter Vrábel
Peter Vrábel is a Slovak conductor who lives and works in Prague.
He started his concert career early, as a student of the Academy of Performing Arts he collaborated with a number of chamber and symphony orchestras and the Kühn Children's Choir. In 1995, he founded the Berg Orchestra and it was he who created the concept of the ensemble's musical direction – his creative ideas and suggestions for interesting projects are a constant and invaluable asset to the orchestra. Thanks to him, the Berg Orchestra is today appreciated as a unique performer of 20th century music and contemporary classical music. He is a tireless and original promoter of new music, he actively collaborates with the top contemporary Czech composers and, through various projects, creates an inspiring creative space for excellent artists of the young generation.
He has a very broad artistic scope - although he focuses on new music, concerts complements it with music from older periods, so in this context it also deals with contemporary interpretation. He created a large number of images for the Czech Radio, he used his versatile abilities when filming the album of jazz pianist Frank Mantooth (USA) or when recording for a film. He is a guest at the National Theater in Prague (performance of Goldilocks). He is a recipient of the Gideon Klein Award. In 2010, he received an award from the Czech Music Council (section of the International Music Council at UNESCO) for his services to the quality and dissemination of Czech music.
