Pavol Bodnár

Pavol Bodnár is a composer, arranger, jazz pianist, teacher, winner of the HF Martoník Award – Jazzman of the Year 1996. Over the years he collaborated as a pianist, arranger and composer with musicians such as Piotr Baron, Grzegorz Nagórski, Joe Murányi and many others. In his current work, he organically combines the rhythmic elements of Latin American jazz and the harmony of North American jazz with Slavic melodies. The formal framework of his compositions are both typical jazz forms and original forms naturally created using the compositional procedures of artificial music. His strong point is spontaneous improvisations on baroque music motifs.
