MYDY
MYDY is a Czech music group from Prague, founded in 2012. In 2019, the group shortened the original name Mydy Rabycad to just MYDY. She plays a fusion of electroswing and other styles of electronic music, which she calls glamtronic. "...It's fun, catchy, yet sophisticated and intelligent electropop with a number of references to various retro styles," says the band about themselves.
According to their words, glamtronic combines two main elements that distinguish the group. One is "glam" referring to the grandeur and presentation of 80's glam bands epitomized for example in the movie Velvet Goldmine and the other is a mix of contemporary electronic music. They were only the second Czech band in history to perform at the Glastonbury festival in England.
In the summer of 2017, the band completed a successful American tour, where they performed in front of a crowd of many thousands alongside the legendary Tom Petty with his The Heartbreakers, Muse or P!nk . The performance at the Festival d'été de Québec, which was celebrating its 50th anniversary, had an equally fantastic response. European successes include the Blue Balls Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland, where they met Patti Smith, the Eier Mit Speck festival in Viersen, Germany or the Treibhaus in Innsbruck, as well as performances at Lowlands festival in Holland.
In 2019, the band announced the new album Numbers at a concert in Foru Karlín and announced a name change - just MYDY - which made "thick line" not only behind his electroswing beginnings. In 2022, they released the album V.
