Muslim Shaggan

Muslim Shaggan is a Pakistani classical and semi-classical singer from Lahore who is the heir and successor of five centuries of Indo-Pakistani vocal tradition. Hailing from a distinguished musical dynasty, he learned singing from an early age under the tutelage of his late grandfather, the legendary Ustad Ghulam Hassan Shaggan. In his soulful vocal performance, he revives traditional musical forms such as ghazal, khayal or thumri. He sings to the accompaniment of tabla drums, flute and the Indian harmonium – an easily portable instrument that was originally imported to Asia from Britain.
