Musica Florea

The Musica Florea ensemble was founded in 1992 by the cellist and conductor Marko Štryncle as one of the first significant efforts in the field of stylistically informed interpretation of music in the Czech Republic. The playing of original instruments or their copies based on the study of contemporary sources and aesthetics and the creative revival of forgotten interpretation styles and means form the essential basis of the ensemble's activity and are at the same time a guarantee of its reputation.

The ensemble's repertoire includes instrumental chamber music, secular and spiritual vocal-instrumental compositions, orchestral concerts as well as monumental symphonic, operatic and oratorical compositions from the beginnings of the Baroque to the 20th century.

Since the beginning of its existence, Musica Florea has been a guest at important world festivals and collaborates with outstanding soloists and ensembles (e.g. .M. Kožená, P. Jaroussky, N. Argenta, V. Gens, Peter Kooij, Le Poème Harmonique etc.) and received a number of prestigious awards (e.g. Diapason d'Or, Cannes Classical Award etc.). He is also the initiator of staging operas and ballets, especially from the Baroque period, often in modern premieres (e.g. J. J. Fux's opera Costanza e Fortezza, G. F. Handel, F. Bononcini and F. Amadei's Muzio Scevolo em> at the festival Händel-Festspiele etc.). In 2014, she contributed to the creation of the unique portable baroque theater Florea Theatrum, created according to the principles of the time. Large-scale oratorio pieces or masses are then realized by Musica Florea in cooperation with its own choir Collegium Floreum, which was also founded and is led by Marek Štryncl.

Since 2002, Musica Florea has been organizing its own concert series with an emphasis on the presentation of newly discovered works and compositions that deserve a return to their interpretative originality.
