Mall Walking Austria

Mall Walking Austria - PATH (Promoting Activity, Togetherness and Health): Promoting exercise, social connection and health together.

Mall Walking Austria is a citizen science research project at the University of Krems funded by the Society for Research Promotion of Lower Austria (GFF).

Together with older people, relatives, specialists and international research partners, we are developing and evaluating an innovative mall walking program for Austria, which promotes exercise, social participation, safety and well-being in old age.

The project is led by Dr. Marlene Kritz at the University of Krems and combines health psychology, exercise promotion, citizen science, co-design and international research to develop a scientifically based and everyday exercise offering. Instead of taking over an existing program, we work with older people to design an Austrian model that is adapted to their needs, realities of life and regional conditions.

Mall Walking Austria is carried out in collaboration with Curtin University (Australia) and the University of Southern Denmark and is scientifically managed by the Krems University for Continuing Education. Our events offer the opportunity to actively shape research and jointly develop the future of health-promoting exercise offerings for older people in Austria.
