Lunetic
Lunetic is a Czech music group. Its members are Václav Jelínek, David Škach, Martin Kocián and Aleš Lehký. The group became famous especially at the end of the 1990s.
The band was founded in 1995 by Martin Kocián and Aleš Lehký. When the members were coming up with a name for the group, they came up with the English lunatic (lunatics, lunatics). To spice it up a bit, they changed the word to Lunetic. They started as a Eurodance dance group at discos and over time they also started to sing. At first they also sang in English.
In 1998, a big turning point came when producer Stano Šimor noticed them. Lunetic started singing in Czech, wrote the hit Mama and started hosting the TV hit show ESO. The hit Máma quickly caught on and the group Lunetic reached the top of the Czech charts. This popularity lasted in the years 1998-2000, when the band won third place at Český slavíkov.
The group broke up in 2003. After the breakup, Václav Jelínek still tried to catch on when he released the rock-tuned album Pod vodou, but he was unsuccessful. Martin Kocián also released his own CD, but it was even less popular than Jelínek.
The members of Lunetic got together again in 2008. They released a new album with all their biggest hits and a DVD with all the video clips. On this occasion, they organized two concerts - in Prague and in Liberec.
