Jan Vobořil

The solo horn player of the Czech Philharmonic, Jan Vobořil, has won a number of important awards in both national (seven-time laureate) and international competitions (Prague Spring, 1992 and Geneva, 1993). In 1991, he was a member of the G. Mahler Youth Orchestra under the baton of C. Abbado, and in the same year he became the solo horn player of the Brno Philharmonic. In the years 1994–2004, he worked as a solo horn player in the Prague Chamber Philharmonic. Since 2005, he has been the solo horn player of the orchestra Solistes Europeéns Luxemburg. He performs solo both at home and abroad (Europe, Japan, USA). He records for Czech Radio and Television, Supraphon, Octavia Records, etc.

He is a member of the Prague Wind Quintet and the Czech Horn Quartet. He is often invited to collaborate with various chamber ensembles and as a solo horn player in leading foreign orchestras (e.g. Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, GDR Hamburg, etc.).
