J3PO

American pianist Julian Pollack has been playing the piano since he was five years old. He grew up in a musical environment; his mother is successful concert pianist Susan Waterfall and his father is conductor and saxophonist Allan Pollack. Julian Pollack stayed with music and was captivated by jazz, which he studied at New York University.

At the age of twenty, he already had two albums with a piano trio, of which the second Waves of Albion was especially praised by critics. In parallel, he also composed orchestral and piano classical music, but the environment of New York and contacts with his peers also focused his interests on electronica, hip hop and contemporary jazz fusions - and he stayed with them in the end. For many years he won every week with the hip hop-funk-soul band The Lesson GK.

In 2019, he enriched his civil name with the nickname J3PO and released the album Small Plates, which completely overturned his previous signature. Electronics, synthesizers, samples, lo-fi beats, compositions ranged from raw electronic structures to sophisticated compositions for which critics coined the label "jazztronica future house". And the recording Mains from 2021 continues in a similar spirit, with even more tightened resources and production.

Over the years, he has become an expert on synthesizers, and his sound design services are used by many manufacturers of keyboard instruments, including Nord, which currently produces probably the most popular instruments of its kind.
