Handa Gote Research & Development
The artistic group Handa Gote Research & Development has been working since 2005 at the border of theatre, contemporary dance, visual art, music, performance and conceptual art.
The group is based on post-dramatic and post-spectacular theatre, interested in non-linear ways of telling and applying experiences of contemporary music and visual art in the theater. In all their work, they use technology in a creative way, both old and the most modern. In most of their projects, they work with media archaeology, and in works approaching documentary theater, they intensively deal with so-called small histories.
In addition to theater, Handa Gote Research & Development is also involved in music – actively through the post-krautrock group B4 and others electronic projects of theater members working with media archeology and recycling - organizationally through the Wakushoppu project, which has been creating a platform for the contemporary Czech improvised music scene since 2010. In its work, the group is mainly influenced by the work and theses of John Cage, which is also related to the inspiration of Eastern philosophies, especially the Japanese aesthetic categories Wabi-sabi and Mono no aware.
