Floex

Tomáš Dvořák aka Floex is a Czech musician, composer and multimedia artist. Floex has been performing on the Czech music scene since 1996. Floex's music became known as early as 2001 thanks to the debut album *Pocustone, which combined at that time relatively isolated styles such as nu-jazz, electronic music and contemporary classical music. Pocustone was also very positively received by critics, and not only in the Czech Republic (Anděl Award 2001, nomination for the Qwartz European Award for Independent Publishers). The record is also mentioned in polls of the most important titles of the last decade on the Czech scene.

Tomáš is also known for his collaboration with Amanita Design. He created the soundtracks for the games Samorost I (2006) and Machinarium (2009). The Machinarium Soundtrack became a sensation in the global gaming community. It is mentioned with superlatives in dozens of world reviews and was also declared the best soundtrack for the year 2009 in the world's most read magazine about PC games - PC Gamer.

He is also the author of several unique musical interactive installations and performances (RGB, Křižovatka, Ž}}vá Partitura), which were created especially in the years 2002-2007 during his studies at the Prague Academy of Fine Arts art. His latest work Archifon I. (www.archifon.org), created in collaboration with Dan Gregor, was presented in BBC NY, Wired, Forbes and Discovery Channel. Archifon II was presented at the Nuit Blanche festival in Brussels in the same year.

Ten years after the debut record in 2011, Floex released the new album Zorya. The new record further explores the possibilities of connecting acoustic and electronic music. Inspiration from serious music minimalism, as well as more experimental positions of electronics, was evident. Zorya, whose name is inspired by the Slavic goddess of the night Zorya Polunochnaya, uncovers deeper and subconscious layers of emotions in music. Zorya was awarded the Anděl genre awards in the alternative music and electronic music categories and was also nominated for the Apollo and Vinila awards. Since 2013, Floex has been cooperating with the new label Denovali Records (Bersarin Quartet, Hidden Orchestra, Greg Haines, Piano Interupted, Popy Ackroyd), on which the EP Gone was released.

After a series of successful concerts with the British pianist and composer Tom Hodge, with whom Floex recorded his last, Angel-awarded record *A Portrait of John Doe_, he is coming to club and festival events in 2021 stage with a new concert project. This is linked to the release of the exclusive remix album Machinarium Remixed, with which the popular computer game Machinarium from the Czech studio Amanita Design celebrated its 10th birthday, and whose complete soundtrack comes from Floex's workshop.
