Buty

Buty is a Czech popular music group, originally from Ostrava, which was formed in 1986 from the groups U238 and B kompleks. The founding members are Richard Kroczek and Radek Pastrňák. They were joined by Vít Kučaj, Ivan Myslikovjan and Luděk Piásečný.

Buty's music mixes a large number of musical styles (rock, folk, folklore of various ethnicities, country, jazz, reggae and others) with imaginative and funny texts. Each album is significantly different from the previous one. From the intimate Whistle si whistle, to the atmospheric Ppoommaalluu (part of the songs used for Svěrák's film Jízda), the positivity-charged Dřevu (in these two albums most critics see the group's artistic peak), to the slightly pop act Rastakayakwanna, the experimental but not quite coherent Pradí, through Normale (sometimes mistakenly understood as symbolizing laments over the coexistence of Roma and Czechs in Ostrava; musically inspired by Goran Bregović), up to the album Votom, which was five years in the making. In the next six months, Buty released another and so far the last album, Duperele.
