Altın Gün
Altın Gün is a band from Amsterdam, but its members have diverse cultural roots. The band combines psychedelic rock, deep funk, synthpop, cosmic reggae and other genres with the colorful traditions of Anatolian and Turkish folk music. Their debut album On (2018) gathered fans around the world, and a year later the band received a Grammy Award nomination in the category "Best World Album" with their second album Gece (2019). After two years of recording during the pandemic and the release of the albums Âlem and Yol (2021), the members of the Altın Gün band recorded a new, live album this time called Aşk (2023). The ten tracks on the Aşk album, recorded using vintage equipment and techniques, represent visionary interpretations of traditional Turkish folk songs and show how these songs still resonate and are ready for reinterpretation.
Altin Gün do not abandon the Anatolian folk-rock sound of the 70s that characterized their first two albums. Altın Gün have performed on music stages around the world, including touring concerts in North America, Europe and the UK, along with appearances at international festivals such as Coachella (USA), Lowlands (NL), Primavera Sound (SP), Fuji Rock (JP) and Iceland Airwaves (IS).
In February 2024, the band announced on her social media pages that singer Merve Daşdemir has decided to leave the band after an eight-year career.
