Zvieracia farma: Keď vládnu svine – derniéra

“We have to face it – our lives are miserable and short!”

Animal Farm. A fable for adults. George Orwell originally wrote it in response to socialist totalitarian structures. However, this fable goes beyond the space-time boundaries of the Soviet Union. In it, Orwell captured a process that has been repeating itself for centuries. Crowds yearning for justice, revolution and then... totalitarianism?!

Stopping this eternal cycle of revolutions and subsequent totalitarianism is not the ambition of the production with the subtitle When Swine Rule. Her ambition is to laugh bitterly at the eternal repetition of history. For this purpose, two worlds came together - the students of VŠMU and the actors of the Zrakáč Theater. Visually impaired and visually privileged. Two generations. Two different views (literally) of the world. They joined together to laugh together at the blindness of the crowds.

No man can offend man as only man can do man. And often people compare people to animals. But George Orwell realized a long time ago that this is not fair to animals at all. Who is man to exalt himself above animals? In Animal Farm, Orwell showed that it is exactly the opposite - the most vile and insidious thing that an animal can become is a human being. And it becomes so in an environment that reveals the animal instincts in a person and the worst of the human in an animal. The animal becomes a political creature - zoon politikon. According to some, zoon politikon is a species that is gradually dying out in our country. But this creature is extremely tenacious and adaptable, so it is likely that it is not going anywhere.

Warning: In this production, it winks at the audience.

The production is a collaboration with Divadol Zrakáč.
