Zu

The legend of Western noise avant -garde.

The ZU group was created in Ostia, west of Rome in 1997, and is famous for the wide synthesis of avant -garde genres. While their assembly is typical of a jazz band, the hard sound owes punk rock and their work resists easy categorization. In this context is mentioned Noise, Math Rock, Industrial, avant -garde, drone and ambient. Dozens of related musicians in bands such as Einsturzende Neubauten, Sonic Youth, Can, The Stooges, The Ex, or soloists such as Mike Patton, Ken Vandermark or Mats Gustafsson have found to be a look at their focus. The last sequel to this mosaic is the Italian-Japanese line-up Ruinszu with Tatsuya Yoshida, whose concert we held in May 2024 as part of the Other Music show. This time, ZU arrives in a traditional line -up as a power trio.
