About event

What is it really like to work in a record store? Listen or join this 60 minute conversation and find out, along with celebrating the re-release of Ceylon Anderson and Patrick Bocarde's graphic novels about the highs and lows of being a record store clerk!

Presenters:
Arya Imig has been a stalwart figure in the Portland music scene for over twenty years. From community radio personality and podcast co-host to booker, promoter and band manager, Arya has guided many emerging artists through their nascent years and beyond. For the last eleven years, give or take, he has been a fixture behind the counter at Everyday Music, the only job he ever really wanted.

Stephen Meads has been in a retail since getting his first job sorting comics in 2003. In 2011 he moved to Portland, got hired to work at the Everyday Music on Sandy Blvd. and stayed there until the store closed over a decade later. He has read/performed work across the country including festivals such as Treefort and Pickathon. He writes about all sorts of things, but his musings on music, some of which published on local digital outlet NAILED Magazine, remain personal favorites.

Moderated by DJ Baron Landscape, AKA Luke Lefler, who haunted record stores for decades and his music collection peaked at around 23,000 items. He composes, remixes and produces as Broken Hours, and was Executive Producer for Show and Tell Gallery in the heady late-2000s. Luke has been working on an album all this time, and it's going well.

Finally, Show and Tell Gallery, led by Melissa Sillitoe Bocarde, produces unpretentious events in Portland public spaces that celebrate art, caffeine, community, and good times. Beginners are welcome!
