About event
the lecturer of the course, Helena Kurzweilová, says:
"TRUTH OR ILLUSION
According to one study, about 70% of people cannot distinguish a mental illusion from reality.
I would say that we are all familiar with such a situation. It is related to our habits. Above all, the fact that our mind interprets the information captured by our senses from the surrounding world at lightning speed. The narrator in our head he starts telling stories about what is happening around us. The character of the story and the emotional charge behind the thoughts can be influenced by the current emotional state, the dominant belief (for example, I'm not enough, even if I try, everything turns against me...), it happened to me that at a workshop about fear, I looked at him and it was inside me The storyteller in my head immediately thought that I was doing something wrong. After the story, he thanked me and said that it helped him. I laughed and said that the look on his face they often interpret it as anger or annoyance. "I call it a 'screen saver,'" he concluded with a smile.
I was quite relieved and very grateful for this lesson. Experiencing first-hand what conjecture can do, along with being able to experience a clear difference between what I SEE and what I THINK, was very telling. I remember it very well, even though it was many years ago.
I encounter similar confusions of ILLUSION with REALITY very often during conflict mediation.
A person clings to their ASSUMPTIONS and thereby causes emotional pain to themselves. He interprets the situation against himself (eg: he doesn't like something about me again, something about me bothers him, he has something against me, ...). This inner suffering drives him to fight. In an effort to restore his own well-being, he begins to put pressure on others to change. This usually stimulates an emotional reaction in the other person as well, and the conflict is in the world.
DIFFERENTIATING the mental game inside our head from what the other person is actually DOING or SAYING therefore seems to me to be a basic communication skill. At least in the case that our intention is to be at peace with ourselves and create healthy relationships with other people.
It seems trivial, but it is not. These situations occur quite normally, but they don't always outwardly appear as a conflict. My guess is that most will go unrecognized.
A basic communication skill is therefore THE ABILITY TO HEAR WHAT IS ACTUALLY BEING SAID.
Listening is one of the skills we train in the Basics of Nonviolent Communication workshop.
We also examine the influence of our way of thinking on our experience, on our emotions and the state of our emotional needs.
A clearer perception of ourselves facilitates our expression. If we are clear about what we want to say about ourselves, what we want from the other and why, we have a better chance of reaching an agreement.
The workshop is based on our own experiences, which we reflect on.
I look forward to exploring together
Helena"
