Imagine one long table for 250 people in the middle of Trenčín. Around him, a concert, film, theater, lectures, barbecue and hundreds of interviews. During two summer evenings, July 17 and 18, you can sit down, bring something good to eat and experience the culture a little differently.
The question is not who will be on stage. The question is what happens behind the table.
And quite a lot happens.
Music behind the table — The Vegetable Orchestra
A band that literally plays on vegetables. Carrots, pumpkins or leeks turn into musical instruments in their hands and create an original sound experience, the likes of which you will never experience.
History behind the table — Katarína Nádaská: History of dining
What does the way we eat reveal about us? How have dining habits changed and what can food say about society? A lecture about dining culture, traditions and stories of people throughout history.
Film at the table — Kamil Fila: Food in film – power, identity, desire
A lecture show about how the preparation and consumption of food was depicted in different periods of history and in different genres. Why is cooking and eating less common in commercial films, and on the contrary, there is a lot of it in art films? And why is most food in movies disgusting? Which of the most famous dishes come directly from the movies?
Sport at the table — AS Trenčín
What role does food play in the world of football? The players of AS Trenčín will talk about shared meals, the multicultural cabin and how the tastes of home accompany athletes from different countries of the world. And it won't be boring.
Theater behind the table — Pilate's Creed (Divadlo Praktikábel)
Karel Čapek and Peter Karvaš meet over a sandwich. An absurd, funny and intelligent game about the meeting of two important figures of Czechoslovak literature reveals more than you would expect from an ordinary snack.
Quiz behind the table
There must be fun. Assemble a team, test your knowledge and find out how much you know not only about food.
You can bring food to the table from home, or from participating restaurants in the city that will prepare a special offer.
Take friends, family or neighbors, bring your own goodies for grilling or taste dishes with a story from local establishments. Sit at the table, slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
Because the table is not just a place where we eat. It is a place where we meet, talk, have fun, think and create shared experiences.

A lecture-performance exploring how food has been portrayed across different periods and film genres. Why are cooking and eating less common in mainstream cinema but so prominent in arthouse films? Why does food in movies often look unappetizing? And which iconic dishes were born on the big screen?
