About event
From J.S.Bach to Liszt, Schumann and Schubert to Wagner - this versatile program, which presents masterpieces in famous piano arrangements, is one of Katharina Treutler's specialties. We can witness how these works gain a fascinating new liveliness through the hands of this award-winning pianist.
In the first part of the concert, Bach's chorale and prelude will be heard, which have been magnificently transformed by Busoni and Siloti. Further highlights include Liszt's variations “Weinen, Klagen, Sorge, Zagen” and the brilliant Rigoletto concerto paraphrase.
The second part is dedicated to the accessible impromptus by Schubert and Liszt's passionate arrangements of Schubert and Wagner melodies. The arc stretches from the graceful serenade to the dramatic tension in Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel to the sublime climax in Isolde's Liebestod before Liszt's rousing Mephisto Waltz No. 1 brilliantly concludes the program.
