About event
David is well known to listeners and visitors of the Vivat vox organi festival as an exceptional and brilliant performer. He has been performing regularly at the International Organ Festival since 2014.
On Saturday, August 22, 2026 at 7:00 p.m., this phenomenal organ virtuoso will play his organ recital this year in the Evangelical Church, on Lazovná Street.
David di Fiore was a student of the French organist Odile Pierre. He started his international career at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris in 1987. He worked as a soloist, conductor, accompanist and practical organist in the USA. He currently works at the Department of Music in Ružomberok. In almost 40 years of his professional career, he performed organ recitals on most continents of our planet. He is the holder of prestigious awards from several international organizations in the USA and Mexico. During his professional work in Slovakia, he also became the holder of several important awards in Slovakia. David has an extensive discography. His latest recording of the cycle "Job" by Petr Eben, with a recital by the Banská Bystrica actor Dod Šamaj, was presented in 2024, at the international organ festival Vivat vox organi in Banská Bystrica.
David once again prepared a colorful and tasty portion of music for his listeners.
Visitors can look forward to a suite of Renaissance dances from the 17th century, also accompanied by tambourines. But also to the works of Couperin, Bach, Rawsthorne, Purcell and Guilmant. And at the end of the concert, as is a good custom, also for David's musical surprise.
After the concert, we serve birthday sparkling wine for everyone. David celebrates his birthday on August 23. He will play his concert on the eve of his holiday!
Participation fee for concert listeners: €8
The festival in 2026 is created with the financial support of the listeners, the EPH Foundation, the City of Banská Bystrica and the Banská Bystrica self-governing region.
We also invite you to a concert by the Italian organist Matteo Imbrun, working in the Amsterdam Oude Kerk, which is scheduled for August 29, 2026, at 19.00, in the church in Špana Dolina.
