About event
The Janoska Ensemble will present itself in Prague for the first time and will perform Vivaldi's Four Seasons in the original Janoska style in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House. The concert will take place on July 21, 2026 as the Prague prologue of the Viva Musica! and will offer an exceptional combination of classics, jazz and virtuoso improvisation.
Janoska Ensemble belongs to the most original European music ensembles today. Their original "Janoska Style" naturally connects classical music, jazz and improvisation into a unique, energetic and virtuoso ensemble. The ensemble consists of three brothers from Bratislava - violinists Ondrej and Roman and pianist František Jánoška - together with their brother-in-law, double bass player Julius Darvas. They perform concerts all over the world, collaborate with important artists and orchestras, record exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon and at the same time continue a deep family tradition of music making. The Janoska Ensemble is synonymous with brilliant virtuosity, spontaneous musical imagination and an intense live experience that can appeal to even the most demanding audience.
They will perform in Prague for the first time and present their latest album – Vivaldi's Four Seasons in their distinctive Janoska style (2024, Deutsche Grammophon). "The four seasons belong to the iconic works of musical history, and we have decided to transfer this work into the 21st century in the spirit of our 'Janoska Style'. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of their release, we have created our own arrangement with elements of improvisation and our musical language. We will present this program for the first time in Prague. It will be an exceptional evening for us - musically and personally," said members of the Janoska Ensemble.
The concert will take place July 21, 2026 in the beautiful premises of the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House as part of the Viva Musica! international festival, which is one of the largest and most visited events in the field of classical music in Slovakia. Since its inception in 2005, Viva Musica! profile with exclusive musical projects, unique artistic connections and collaborations, unconventional concert formats, premieres and concerts in unusual places. The festival takes place in various places in Bratislava and the Bratislava region, while this year it will also be presented in Prague for the first time.
