Eating and devouring oneself as a metaphor: from yearning, almost allegorical eating to 'bloodthirsty consumption', 'being consumed' and 'sacrificing oneself' as a grim catharsis.
The image of the singer accompanying herself on the piano, as an intimate, self-concentrated expression, describes the 'Limbo' - the state of suspension into which the numerous social and political upheavals of the last few years have placed us. More of a song than an art song, the vocal works reveal various psychological states of being in-between.
The game about closeness and distance, loneliness and global location, fear and hope not only reflects the personal situation of the Ukrainian artist, but also the isolation of the resistance fighter in the prison cell: LIMBO is dedicated to the Belarusian colleague and friend Maria Kalesnikava, who was recently sentenced to 11 years in prison. The theme of the irrational state of suspension thus takes on a dramatic, very real dimension.
