“Meditating in Images”
A highly general topic. Very special if you mean the pictures from an entire exhibition. These pictures have the handwriting of Christel Bachmann. They are committed to the way they work and always to the time in which they are created. The viewer becomes a direct participant in the meditative experience if they take their time looking at the images and immerse themselves in them, so to speak. This creates thought connections and a new world of experience.
There are several highlight pictures hanging in this exhibition (from 2022 – 25). “In meditation” – detached from time and space – with the desire to understand. “We on the Mountain” is a frieze based on German-German history and homeland, spanning the past and present. “Two Sandmen Meditating” concerns the immediate present. There really is an East and West Sandman! This picture was created especially for this exhibition on the topic.
Another social focus of the city “Berlin Affin” – for some it is actually a dream. Masks belong to an endless loop in art history. Not only is the form interesting, it also allows you to express the topic more precisely. They are also represented several times in this exhibition, including in “Is Halloween”. There are also many monuments and new ones are constantly being built. Some fall quickly - soon forgotten. And some who deserve it don't get it. Immortalized here in “Monument to the Dandelion”. At the end of the exhibition “Corona Blues”. Apparently also an image of timelessness. It is a tribute to the indestructible power of nature. Despite Corona, she was there. She made people happy, strengthened their hearts and their will to live. And without peace nothing works: “Peace, cosmic events.”
The exhibition “Meditating in Pictures” will be on display in the Mark Twain Library from November 6th, 2025 to January 3rd, 2026.
There will be musical accompaniment by Thomas Krüger at the vernissage.
