About event

We cordially invite you to the opening of Zuzana Jarošová's exhibition "purple night, I am elsewhere, you are too much". | You are kindly invited to the opening of Zuzana Jarosová's exhibition "purple night I'm elsewhere you linger within me".

📌Art Club Studňa, Central European House of Photography / Studňa Art Club, Central European House of Photography, Bratislava and a poetics that is hard to define and easy to feel — something Balkan, wild and cozy at the same time, a space where intimacy always took place on the border of the public. The photo of the inscription found on the wall of the Košice house illustrates this and at the same time becomes the title and poetic framework of the author's photo cycle. Anonymous text without authorship, addressed to someone and everyone.

The file reflects a personal experience with space, body and everyday reality through visually subtle, but meaningfully disturbing images. The author works with a staged situation as well as a random moment, emphasizing detail, fragment and atmosphere. Domestic interiors, objects, urban still lifes, bizarre situations or anonymized parts of the human body become bearers of symbolic meanings in the photographs and create a tension between a familiar environment and a feeling of alienation. The contrast between the monochromatic imagery and the selectively used color reinforces the visual ambivalence and moves the documentary towards an introspective statement about the fragility of identity, intimacy and the hidden layers of everyday experience. Next to the photographs is her own poetic work — not as a comment on the images, but as an equal, parallel voice.

Zuzana Jarošová (*1985, Martin) lived in Žilina, in Topoľčany, in Irish Cork and Innishannon, in Prague and in Pliešovce. Today he lives and works in Košice. She is an urban geographer, a non-professional photographer and a poet. In his creative work, he focuses on the investigation of intimacy, vulnerability and everyday situations, which he moves to the level of a personal statement through chance or staging and symbolic detail. She also developed her work more systematically within the AMFO format (nationwide competition and exhibition of amateur photography), where she completed workshops with Peter Puklus and Vanda Mesiariková. Her photographs are part of the photographic publication The Double City (Exhibit Around APS, 2024) and the ongoing group outdoor exhibition DOM – DOMOV in Martina (curator Zuzana Pustaiová). Her poems and texts were part of the exhibitions of visual artists Lena Gallovičová in the Flatgallery, Katarína Bajkayová in the Bratislava City Gallery and Martina Uličianská in the Šopa Gallery. Balkan, wild and intimate at once, a place where intimacy has always played out at the edge of the public. A photograph of a found inscription on the wall of a Košice building both illustrates this and becomes the title and poetic frame of the series. An anonymous text without an author, addressed to someone and to everyone.

The work reflects a personal experience of space, the body, and everyday reality through visually subtle yet semantically unsettling images. The artist moves between staged situations and chance moments, foregrounding detail, fragment, and atmosphere. Domestic interiors, objects, urban still lifes, bizarre situations, and anonymised parts of the human body become carriers of symbolic meaning, generating tension between the familiar and the feeling of estrangement. The contrast between monochromatic imagery and selectively introduced color intensifies the visual ambivalence and shifts the documentary record towards an introspective account of fragile identity, intimacy, and the hidden layers of everyday experience. Alongside the photographs stands her own poetry — not as commentary, but as an equal, parallel voice.
