Vladimír Birgus, head of the Institute of Creative Photography of the University of Silesia in Opava, was one of the first Czech photographers in the early 1980s. , who tried to thoughtfully use the emotional and psychological effects of color in subjectively conceived documentary photographs that were created in parallel with his black and white works. Initially, he emphasized the strong contrasts of several rich colors. However, his newer photographs are often almost monochromatic and often dominated by only one dominant color, as for example in the Bratislava exhibition with dominant red and blue.
