About event

We cordially invite you to the opening of Martina Lukić's exhibition Paradigm of food production - the story of Panonka | You are kindly invited to the opening of Martina Lukić's exhibition The Paradigm of Food Production - The Case Study of Panonka.
1986. After a short period of growth, strong local ties and a significant presence in meat production in Yugoslavia, Panonka was hit by the collapse of the federation, wartime sanctions and finally privatization. The once extensive slaughterhouse has been transformed into a factory for the processing of locally grown frozen vegetables, the export of which exceeds the borders of the former Yugoslav territories. Its goal is to reflect on local and global actors participating in social organization, as well as on the idea of self-sufficiency.

The project reveals the layered temporalities of human, animal and plant production in changing geopolitical frameworks, as well as social ideas about food self-sufficiency. By using the slow, fleeting and decaying antotype process, the work questions the logic of industrial photography and proposes a "post-factory" image as a critique and as a poetic gesture. autonomous province of Vojvodina, Serbia, in late Yugoslavia in 1986. After a brief period of growth, strong local connections, and a prominent presence in the state's meat production, the company suffered the fall of the federation and war sanctions, and was eventually subjected to privatization. The once vast slaughterhouse has since been transformed into a factory for processing locally produced frozen vegetables, with exports extending beyond the borders of the former Yugoslav territories.

The exhibited artistic project follows the early phase of the company in the 1980s and then shifts to its contemporary mode of production. Its aim is to reflect upon the local and global actors involved in social organization and on the idea of self-sufficiency.

The project reveals layered temporalities of human, animal, and vegetal production within shifting geopolitical frames, as well as societal imaginations of food sufficiency. Using a slow, fugitive, and decay-bound anthotype process, the work challenges the logic of industrial photography and proposes a "post-factory" image as both a critique and a poetic gesture.

The exhibition will run until 12/07/2026.
