About event

Trafo Gallery cordially invites to the exhibition of paintings by Jan Vytiska entitled Revelation, which represents a cycle of works over the last two years of printing work. Individual works were inspired by the last book of the New Testament, the revelation of St. John (Apocalypse). This text is attributed to Jana of Patmo and is one of the key biblical documents. Since the Middle Ages, he has also been one of the most compromised inspirational sources of art art. The text offers a number of strong and distinctive motifs that have inspired many artists. The opening will take place on Thursday. 3. From 19:00 in the Gallery Trafo, the commented tour on Wednesday 30. 4. 2025 at 18:00.
The curator of the exhibition is Otto M. Urban. Direct references to the apocalypse are again hiding in details, in non -violent hints, but most viewers overlook. The basic form remains the same, larger formats mostly oriented horizontally. Vycika continues in her "oil" period, oils on canvases have already dominated at the recent exhibition Ritual of Cursed Hearts (2023) at the Center of Contemporary Art DOX. In the new paintings you can feel even more confident, they are brighter, while I still discover the new possibilities that this technique brings. In particular, the wealth of important details excel. Even in this series we witness rituals that take place in the author of typical backdrops or mountain massifs. These references to folklore, as well as the flowing eye and references to horror naturalism are typical of the author.

The Curator of the Exhibition is Otto M. ’S work, The Revelation Theme Comes As No Surprise-His Interest in Intense and Dramatic Motifs Has Been Long-Standing. Direct references to the apocalypse are once again hidden in the details, Subtle Hints That Most Viewers May Overlook. The Fundamental Composition Remains Unchanged, With Larger, Predominantly Horizontal Formats. Vytiska Continues His “Oil Painting” period, as Oils on Canvas Also Dominated HIS Resent Exhibition Ritual of Curssed Hearts (2023) at the Dox Center for Contemporary Art. His New Paintings Exude even Greater Confidence, Appearing More Luminous As He Continues to Explore The Possibilities This Technique Offers. This is particularly obvious in the Wealth of Intricate details. Once Again, WE WITNESS Ritualistic Scenees set Against Vytiska’s Signature Backdrops of Timberted Cottages and Mountain Ranges. Folkloric References, Along With Motifs Such As A Weeping Eye and Elements of Horror Naturalism, Remain Distinctive Features of His Work.
