The exhibition project "Consolation in Staring into Holes" focuses on the reflection of private and collective emotions and forms of experience in the contradictory and fragmented terrain of today's socio-political reality. Nikitinová asks about the possibilities of rehabilitating a person's immediate and undistorted relationship to external realities in the age of digitization of human perception, fragmentation of knowledge and polarized social interactions. Nikitinová notices that the more time we spend in the online environment observing catastrophic news, the more rare the state of full-fledged perception of the surrounding reality becomes. She is interested in how, in the hyper-accelerated media age, objective reality begins to escape us irresistibly, recedes and transforms into a reduced digital virtual image. The outside world has become a "touchscreen", "LCD display", LED info panel, in the corners of which a "pop-up window" constantly pops up warning of the ever-present war, climate crisis and other civilizational dangers.

With her specific attention to the "most mundane", Nikitinová manages to see something in reality that begs to be painted. They are mostly very ordinary things: the less attractive the better. "I'm interested in forms of banality, ordinariness, some shop windows - air conditioning, wigs, socks, medical supplies. Or the mess created by a son while playing. Images should be play, absurdity, comfort, even if distress creeps into them between the lines." The series of paintings Consolation in staring into holes is Nikitin's return to objectivity. In older series, she tested how far she could go in the emptiness and emptiness of the subject, but after reaching a certain point of emptiness, in recent years she went back to imagery and a greater degree of realism.

Alice Nikitinová (*1979) is an artist of Ukrainian origin, but her work was and is being shaped in the Czech context. Nikitinová is one of the most outstanding artists of her generation, but at the same time she stands aside from most program performances and large painting exhibitions. This situation can be partly explained by its own lack of adaptability, which, of course, is nothing more than a natural consequence of being faithful to one's own starting points and the specific demands placed on solving the problem of the painted image. Nikitinová is based on the tradition of abstract painting by avant-garde artists of the first third of the 20th century. Her personal fascination with the most mundane objects of everyday use is the model for formal research into the autonomous problems of the abstract image. With their essential, symbolic and reduced to functional aesthetics, they encourage new formulations of artistic themes, lightening and deformations of the modernist structure of the image, the discovery of humor and the renewal of perceptual sensibility towards painting. She created and illustrated several children's books, edited a book of student comics. It is based on the observation of the surrounding reality, in which he tries to find poetic and absurd elements. She is a finalist for the Jindřich Chalupecký prize (2010), exhibited in a number of domestic (DOX, NTK, FAIT Gallery, SVIT, GAVU, GMUHK, etc.) and foreign institutions.
