Vernisáž "Fighters before us"

We invite you to the opening of the Fighters before us opening. The exhibition will present the original comics and illustrations of the Jančov Sisters - Zuzana and Ivana, who have been working for children and youth for several years. It will include works created as part of the Fighters Before Us project, which brings to light the forgotten stories of Slovak men and women, as well as samples from their other comic books.

Since 2018, the Jančové sisters have been creating stories that connect humor, emotion and education with current social issues. They are behind projects such as the ecological comic Eco and Tank, the official teaching aid Čitanka for fourth-graders, a fairytale story about discrimination according to Pavel Dobšinský, the dark zombie comic Zóna 300 or the adventure story Adam and the secret of lost monuments. Their work reached hundreds of children not only through comics, but also through comic workshops throughout Slovakia. Currently, they are also involved in international projects, where stories of world sports stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and LeBron James are processed in comic form.

The exhibition thus connects historical stories with modern comic art and shows how it is possible to convey the message of the past and present through illustration and story. The project and the exhibition are realized with the support of the EVZ Foundation.
