About event
Vernissage 14. 3. It is an oxymoron and a paradox. If God has created all the world, is it holy and hell? Aren't the virtue and sin, good and evil only two peaks of the same hyperbolos lying outside the space of social morality, with one holistically complementing the other in the same way as different musical instruments in the symphony orchestra blend? Or was William Shakespeare right with his statement: "Hell is empty, the devils are between us"? These and other questions are asked by Dante Daniel Hartl in his exhibition. The more strange party, the more morning hangover. Even Laudanum religion, whose opium spends reason like a snake poison, does not bring the way out. Another topic is the animality and human interaction with the realm of animals. Is it necessary to eat a rat Klímov, so that we do not become a rat? Gregory Samsa has turned into a repulsive insect in Kafka's story, but a woe if we could see our own dogs - we would certainly have a much more horrific look… Or will it save us from all the rescue brake from the derailment of the train from our history? Perhaps at least a partial answer could bring this exhibition. But one thing is certain: "Better to rule in hell than to serve in heaven." (John Milton, lost paradise)
Dante Daniel Hartl managed to gain fame not only with his peculiar visual style, but also with indisputable courage and desire to create freely regardless of conventions and boundaries of ordinary habits. Although he studied in the studio of painting at Prague's Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, his work is characterized by rather spatial objects, experimenting with atypical materials and their properties or post -conceptual approach to painting. He often works in series in which he emphasizes a strong thought foundation, interwoven with a touch of decadence and a typical black humor for him. The deliberate provocation is a tool for Hartl to immediately get the attention of the viewer. He often uses carefully selected artifacts, which he presents to us in a completely new contexts and novel combinations that cause the disruption of our perception of their meanings. It opens the door deeper into the stories of individual works, in which he seems to expose the reality of superficiality and pretense, pointing out the fact that everything is not as often fiercely trying to be.
